Finally!

Molly is coming to see me and go rafting with me tomorrow!

I am not really that excited; I just told all my co-workers all about it. Everyday. For the last month. And all the guests I've taken down the river for the past week. In fact, the guests I took down the river yesterday were so intruiged that I somehow convinced a girl to date me (one tooth and all) that when Sara asked when Molly was coming into town, before I had time to answer Rex piped in, "Thursday." We all laughed pretty hard about that. It was a physical therapy group that has been coming rafting with us for years, and one that I've taken down the river at least 4 times. Oddly enough, one of the couples that comes had a daughter on the BYU Cheer Squad with me. They are one of my favorite groups every year.

Not only is Molly coming, but my mom is coming rafting with her and friends Madison and Achylus and possibly roommate Christina--who has never said a word to me. And I'm pretty sure I terrify her. I'm pretty sure the trip is doomed to be awkward. But I think it is going to be incredibly fun.

1 more day :) WoOt!

WTB Rafting Guide!

We, (Epley's Whitewater Adventures) are looking for at least 2 more river guides for this coming summer.

If you are interested or know of someone interested have them contact me. (That is Quintin Hunt, 520-450-1344)

I make no guarantees other than an interview. But I do hold a certain amount of sway with the owners.

There is an application, found here ->+<- (that's http://epleys.com/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=ZxIi3LwBKSw%3d&tabid=91 )

P.S. On a funny note, while reading about the NFL Combine (found here)I came across some very poor logic and comparisons.

The 40 yard dash is on of the events in the combine (designed for players entering the NFL draft to showcase their strength and abilities). There is some discrepancy with the times of one player--a difference of .19 seconds. Which, as is well pointed out in the article, is a huge difference in a 4 second race. Then the author then goes on to state, "In Olympic Alpine skiing, the difference between a silver medal and seventh-place was .12 seconds".

Hello apples, these are oranges!

He should have at least done some research (which took me all of 30 seconds) to find out that in Olympic Sprinting in the 100 meter dash the difference between a silver medal and eighth-place was .14 seconds. (which is more than twice the distance) (source)

The Family Trip

So I've been putting off posting about my family trip because...well... erm... I'm lazy.

But as I'm doing my best to shrug off a bit of insomnia this seems to be a very appropriate time.

But let's see if I can in someway get these pictures into a storytelling format.

To start us off you have the butterflies having a drink break at what we shall, from now on at least, butterfly beach.

Mom and dad taking a break while hiking up to the hot spring.

Josh forging the way to the hot spring.
The entrance to the hotspring.
Our friendly little bats. Can you find them?
There they are. The next week when Josh (Callahan aka Idaho Josh) went to the hot spring there were literally hundreds of them.
My Mom chillin in the hot tub.

Dinner. Josh and I bought a 34 inch salmon from the Indians the day before the trip. Then we cleaned it at the beach and cooked in the fire. Without a doubt--it was the best salmon I have every had.
A pleasant surprise we had on arriving at the campsite. Baby Jonah! NAKED!

The end of 2008 rafting :(

Rafting for this year is over. While there are like 300 pictures from rafting that I'd love to share--people just don't want to see all 300. Sooo-- I'm painstakingly going through them and narrowing my favorite to 10. 10 is just a good round number that people will still look at.

This is actually from last year. But this group came back again this year. And I didn't get this picture until this year. So let's pretend. This is Tight Squeeze.

My Aunt and Uncles (and cousin) with Josh in Time Zone.

My parents, Aunts and Uncle. It's rare to see my dad smile like this :)

This family comes rafting a couple of times a year with us. And I've taken them down almost every time--they have become really good friends.

The guy cackling in front makes this picture a favorite--and the legs in the air. :)

This is my sister and 3 of her kids. Eric in the middle was terrified at first. But you can see he was having a blast!

These 3 pictures are the same group. They came with us on Monday afternoon, then they came back Wednesday morning again they had so much fun. These two trips were the most fun trips I took all year. Just beacause we were "suicide boats" . We purposefully flipped in one of our rapids. On a side note--you can see the water is dirty here. There were mudslides upriver and so the river at this point was seriously a Willy Wonka Chocolate river--but much less tasty.

Now, I've always said that I think the clouds in Idaho are prettier than other places I've lived. Maybe it's just that I see them more often--but I sure do enjoy them.
